Gymnastics

Pinnacle offers an array of gymnastic classes for Beginner to Advanced.  Coaches will work to create a basic knowledge of the gym, gym safety and skills. Classes are separated by gender and age to create small, focused classes where athletes can learn at their own pace and level. Once a Coach feels like an athlete has grasped the skills of their current level they will recommend the student move up. Should an athlete excel quickly and show natural talent, they may be asked to try out for our competitive team - however, most students will advance at a steady pace and may take months to years to advance to team level. 

Balance Beam

BEGINNERS (Tumbling: Floor, Trampoline, Flexibility and Strength Only)

Vault:  Good Run, Hurdle onto board - jumps one foot to two feet, Straight jump onto 8” mat

Bars:  Pull-over to finish in front support,  Cast, hips leave bar with straight arms and legs, Back hip circle with spot, Cast, pushaway, stick, Forward roll over bar

Beam:   Understands releve, Releve walks forward, backward and sideways, Arabesque, Stretch jump, 3 forward leg kicks (leap prep), 3 levers with straight back leg

Floor:  ¾ handstand, no arch, feet together, Left & Right Cartwheel with straight arms and legs landing on feet, Handstand forward roll, Forward roll, Backward roll, Bridge kick over from wedge mat

Flexibility & Strength:  10 second chin hold, 10 second L hold, 5 push ups, 15 sit ups, Pike sit touching toes, Bridge hold for 5 seconds with straight arms, feet flat. Right & Left Splits 90⁰, Middle Splits 90⁰ 

INTERMEDIATE (Tumbling: Floor, Trampoline, Flexibility and Strength only)

Vault:  Good Run, Hurdle onto board with arm circle, one foot to two feet, Straight jump onto vault mat, Dive roll onto vault mat (over roll onto 8” mat)

Bars:  Pull-over, legs together and straight,  Cast, 3  in a row with straight arms and legs, Back hip circle with light spot and good form, Under-swing dismount, Front support walk across bar

Beam:  Standing Leap, Pivot turn, Tuck jump, Small handstand, lever, feet off beam, Cartwheel to side handstand on low beam, Understands Coupe, Passe, Releve

Floor:  Good handstand with 2-3 second hold, Left & Right Cartwheel with straight arms and legs, Handstand fall to bridge, Backward roll to push up, Bridge kick over

Flexibility & Strength:  15 second chin hold, 10 second L hold, 15 second hollow body hold, Bridge with shoulders over wrists, Right & Left Splits 150⁰, Middle Splits 120⁰

Trampoline:  Understands straight, tuck and straddle jumps, Seat, knees, handstand, Front handspring, Back handspring with spot, Flat back fall on 8 inch          

 

PRE-TEAM  (Tumbling: Floor, Trampoline, Flexibility and Strength only)

Vault:  Good Run, Hurdle onto board, one foot to two feet, no run on board, Straight jump onto vault mat, Dive roll on flat surface, Handstand  flat-back to straight body on vault mat, Handstand block on flat surface

Bars:  Glide swing, toes in front, totally extended, Chin up pull-over, Back hip circle with straight arms and legs, Underswing dismount, Front support walk across bar both directions, Cast to 45⁰ degrees or higher

Beam:  V-sit to push up, Scale to horizontal or below, Passe Heel lock ½ turn, Handstand ¾ minimum, Handstand forward roll with spot, Round off dismount

Floor:  Handstand forward roll with arms straight, Left & Right Cartwheel with straight arms and legs, Handstand fall to bridge, kickover, Round off with rebound, Backward roll to push up with straight arms and legs, Understands and can perform correct split leap

Flexibility & Strength:  7 pull ups, 10 push-ups with correct form, 20 second hollow body hold, 7 leg lifts, Bridge with shoulders over wrists and legs together, Right & Left Splits 150⁰, Middle Splits 120⁰

Trampoline:  Front handspring, Back handspring, 3 donkey kicks, Straight leg split jump, Straddle jump with hips rolled
